# What If I've been Thinking About the New Table in the Gaming Room All Wrong?
tags: #thoughts/gaming-room
You know, I've been considering what kind of table I need to put into the remodeled den that I intend to slowly convert into a proper gaming space – and have for the last couple of years, but we're not going to talk about that.^[Ripped out the flooring and replaced it with some very nice wood pattern vinyl, moved all of the annoying furniture to one side of the room along with boxes containing games and a table for my display/rare pieces, just downstairs from the kitchen. Seriously, it'll be nice if it ever gets together.]
My original thought was a 4 x 6 folding table of the classic old-school gamer style. But I just saw something that made me stop and reconsider.
Maybe what I need is just a nice picnic table.

Yes, I know – "a picnic table indoors?" Well, yes. One of the old wood designs with benches that run down the long side and probably not more than hip height on me standing. Something nice and heavy that won't go sliding everywhere if it gets bumped but able to be disassembled and reassembled without too much trouble in a worst-case scenario. Top it off with one of those slightly elevated gaming table tops that are intended to be set on an existing table and provide a single surface that gives you room underneath that top table to put cards, miniatures, tokens, or whatnot.
Add something like this to the collection and it'll be even better, a raised platform for the game spaces themselves.

That could be very doable. Especially if it had a nice stain that was a darker gray than what I have for the vinyl flooring.
That could work! That could really work.
Obviously not for cheap, given the cost of the basic table plus the stuff I certainly wouldn't mind adding on to it but… It looks like it would turn into one of the better gaming spaces I've ever owned. Hurrah.
I should start putting this together in the next several months. Thoughts or considerations? Leave them to my main channel; let me know what you think.
