The Bakunawa-Layag Is rarely spotted these days, but is rumored to live at the bottom of freshwater lakes in low-lying areas. They are incredibly adept at high-speed swimming, but those skills serve them well when they take to the air. Easily the size of two bulls, their long thin builds, and diaphanous wings justify their enormous length. Luckily for surrounding regions, not only are they extremely rare, but they don't tend toward aggressive overtures toward inhabited places. They prefer their hunting easy.
Persistent rumors of actual sentience abound in legend, but there is no indication that, outside of their tendency to build extremely complicated underwater labyrinths in which to live and rear their single offspring, that they have any higher consciousness at all.
They are almost always spotted alone, and on the rare occasions in which two are seen together, it is suspected that they are pair-bonded. Do not get spotted during pair-bonding hunting, as that is a sure way to be attacked.

Why yes, I took a prompt intended to be executed by someone who is into D&D and D&D-adjacent games, and instead put together something using **[[Ironsworn]]**, because that's how I roll.
