# Not All Games Are Good, Especially the Ones You Buy tags: #thoughts One of the really interesting things about doing the [[Character Creation Challenge]], especially if you set yourself the particular challenge of literally going through the last 31 games you've picked up, is that you won't like all of them. Particularly for me, because I'm a bit of a collector, not every game in my collection is something I want to play. Sometimes I pick them up because the setting compels me in a certain way and I want to read more about it Sometimes I pick them up because they have interesting mechanics I've never seen anywhere else before. I don't always pick up games because I want to play them. This gets brought especially home when I'm going through the most recent haul and creating characters from the actual text. Some of them really aren't much fun at all, either because the process is a pain in the ass or because the character sheet is not well constructed. Some of them I can see the fun but it's just not for me. It's really a good reminder that the process of thinking about games and enjoying games sometimes requires that you take in things that you don't like necessarily for the actual play of the game. That's okay.
