I got into artificial intelligence a long time ago when symbolic computation was all the rage, just about the same time that I discovered role-playing games. World War II? That's purely accidental. I'm more of a sci-fi man, myself. If anything, this should be a reminder that you can have a number of interests, be conversant in all of them – even be considered relatively expert in all of them – and all you have to do is give up any semblance of having a normal life.
