# Wraith: the Oblivion tags: #game/rpg/wraith ![[Wraith the Oblivion (cover).jpg]] **Wraith: The Oblivion** is a game where you play as a ghost with unfinished business. Because apparently, the afterlife isn't complicated enough without throwing in bureaucracy and existential crises. Welcome to the Shadowlands, where death is just the beginning of your problems. In this cheerful romp through the land of the dead, players use the Storyteller System, which involves rolling a handful of ten-sided dice and hoping for the best. The core mechanic requires you to roll a number of d10s equal to your Trait + Ability, aiming to get results of 6 or higher. Each success moves you closer to accomplishing your ghostly goals, while failures remind you that even in death, you can't escape life's disappointments. The game has seen multiple editions, with the second edition in 1996 adding more ways for your deceased character to suffer. The 20th Anniversary Edition, released in 2018, further refined the rules and expanded the lore, because two decades wasn't long enough to figure out how to make being dead fun. ## References - [Wraith: The Oblivion 20th Anniversary Edition - DriveThruRPG](https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/233842/Wraith-The-Oblivion-20th-Anniversary-Edition) - [Wraith: The Oblivion Review - RPG.net](https://www.rpg.net/reviews/archive/classic/rev_6839.phtml) - [Wraith: The Oblivion - White Wolf Wiki](https://whitewolf.fandom.com/wiki/Wraith:_The_Oblivion) - [Wraith: The Oblivion 20th Anniversary Edition Review - Geek Native](https://www.geeknative.com/64187/wraith-oblivion-20th-anniversary-edition-review/) - [Wraith: The Oblivion - RPGGeek](https://rpggeek.com/rpg/587/wraith-oblivion) > [!note] Editor's Note > > No notes.
