The full Sword World 2.5 core rulebook is heading to crowdfunding, and this is the free appetizer designed to make you hungry. ## Setting The primer sticks to the same warm, cooperative fantasy-adventure world as the quick start: the port city of **Harves** and the waterway-crossed kingdom on the world of **Raxia**, where a vanished **Magitech Civilization** left behind airships, ruins, and energy-shaped dungeons. Adventurers register with the **Adventurers' Guild** and take requests for coin — the classic Japanese party-fantasy economy — while elves, tabbits, lykant, and humans team up against the Barbarous and whatever's crawling out of the old ruins. It's team-oriented, structured, and friendly, which is precisely the tone that made Sword World Japan's favorite fantasy RPG for decades. ## Mechanics The same class-based **2d6** engine as the quick start: roll 2d6, add your ability-score bonus and class levels, and beat a target number, with double 6s an automatic success and double 1s an automatic failure that still pays out XP for learning from your mistakes. Characters multiclass across heroic and common classes — fighter, ranger, sorcerer, priest, martial artist, and the rest — with the six ability scores, HP from Vitality, and MP from your magic class levels.
