# Renegade Legion: Leviathan tags: #game/wargame/renegade-legion ![[Renegade Legion - Leviathan (cover).jpg|600]] **Leviathan** is the capital-ship game of FASA's **[[Renegade Legion]]** line — combat involving the huge battleships, cruisers, and the swarms of fighter squadrons that make up the interstellar navies of the **Terran Overlord Government (TOG)** and the **Commonwealth** and their **Renegade Legion** allies. It's the slow, stately end of the naval spectrum, the direct counterpoint to the frantic dogfights of **[[Renegade Legion - Interceptor|Interceptor]]**. ## Setting Space combat in the Renegade Legion universe only happens when both sides want it to. Most units can slip into **T-space** and simply decline the fight, so the real flashpoints are planets and immobile installations — the things too big to run. That makes Leviathan a combined-arms game in practice: you land strike legions to threaten ground fortresses while your battleships duel the enemy's space units and support the ground-pounders from above. The ships themselves are the cast. The game's counters cover TOG and Commonwealth/Renegade fleets each fielding a battleship, cruisers, frigates, destroyers, and a carrier, plus gunboats, corvettes, escorts, fighters, satellites, and space installations. Fleet combat is a **squadron dance**: units must act together or get isolated and cut to pieces, maneuvering for the best broadside shots as squadrons pass through each other and ponderously turn to re-engage. ## Mechanics Leviathan runs on record sheets that track a capital ship's armor, shields, armament, **power allocation**, movement orders, and internal components — power management is the heart of it. Fighters use simpler sheets. It's a game of careful expenditure: allocate power, position your squadron, and take your broadsides, all while the slower and more powerful ships try not to be the one left behind. ## Editions - **1st Edition** — *Renegade Legion: Leviathan*, FASA. - **3.0** — the copy in the library. *In the library.* ## References - [Renegade Legion — Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renegade_Legion) - [Setting: Renegade Legion — BoardGameGeek](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgamefamily/6896/setting-renegade-legion)
