The In Sight test stops being about who shoots first and becomes about who's still standing when the thing from outside the stars takes an interest. ## Setting It's the Cthulhu-adjacent register the title promises: old gods, forbidden knowledge, and the slow realization that the universe does not care. Your figures aren't heroes so much as people who wandered in and may not wander out. The horror is procedural rather than narrated — the THW reaction mechanics supply the dread by making every encounter a question of nerve, which fits the source material better than most games trying to be scary on purpose. ## Mechanics The **Chain Reaction / THW Reaction System** core: **Reputation**, **2d6 taken-versus-Rep**, and the **In Sight** reaction test, doing double duty as turn order and nerve-check. When the thing is faster than you and the reaction roll says you've lost your nerve, that's the Lovecraft. It's the same engine as the rest of the THW line, wearing a trench coat and pretending the shadows are a choice. ## Editions - **Lovecraft's Revenge** — by Jay Mackesy (edited by Ed Teixeira). *In the library.* **Lovecraft's Revenge** is a **[[Two-Hour Wargames]]** game by **Jay Mackesy** from the same [[Chain Reaction|Reaction System]] family as the rest of the line. ## References - [Two Hour Wargames — Two Hour Wargames site](https://twohourwargames.com/)
