**Loner: World Builder's Guide** is the tool-and-template dial on **[[Loner]]** — not a setting to play in, but a book for making your own settings that don't just support stories, they generate them. Same tag-based chassis and Chance-vs-Risk oracle underneath, but this one is aimed at the person who wants to build a world and then populate it with things worth asking an Oracle about. It's the workshop manual for the rest of the line.
## Setting
The book isn't a setting so much as a factory for them. It walks you through building a setting from scratch, supplies character archetypes and NPC templates, lists locations, story hooks, and random events, and then shows how to adapt an existing setting to run on **Loner**. The back half is the really useful part for tinkerers: crafting your own D66 random tables, with appendix templates and guidance for remixing those tables across different genres. It's the book that turns the solo player into a game designer whether or not they intended to be one.
## Mechanics
The core remains the shared Loner Oracle, and the World Builder's Guide makes heavy use of **D66 random tables** — roll two d6, first is the tens digit, second is the units, and a 36-entry grid of inspiration falls out. The book teaches you to build and remix those tables so your custom world has native oracle support rather than borrowing someone else's. It's the most meta of the line: instead of giving you a genre, it hands you the lathe and the raw material.
