# Loner: Norse Saga tags: #game/rpg/loner-norse-saga ![[Loner - Norse Saga (cover).jpg|300]] **Loner: Norse Saga** is the Viking-Age dial on **[[Loner]]** — a solo RPG forged in the Oracle's voice, about honor, blood feuds, raiding, settlement, and blood vengeance. Same tag-based engine and Chance-vs-Risk dice, now pointed at the sagas where a man's word — and his reputation — are worth more than gold. It's the line's most honor-obsessed entry, and it wears its Norse-ness with a straight face. ## Setting The setting is the Viking Age: a world of exploration, raiding, settlement, and vengeance where reputation is built through deeds. Characters are forged in honor, with six origins on offer and Viking names to match. The book layers in an Honor system, wyrd and fate as a counterweight to raw skill, seasonal raiding and travel that keep the year turning, and an end-of-session saga-advancement loop so a career grows episode by episode. A bestiary of the enemies of the North and a big block of adventure tables round it out, with a glossary of Old Norse terms for the appropriately gloomy flavor. ## Mechanics The core is the shared Loner Oracle — roll Chance against Risk for yes/no, read ties as "Yes, but…," tick the Twist Counter. What Norse Saga adds is genre machinery: the **Honor System**, which makes your standing in the sagas a mechanically meaningful thing rather than a vibe; **wyrd and fate**, the sense that the weavers are pulling strands whether you like it or not; and **seasonal raiding & travel**, which turns the calendar into a pacing device. End-of-session **saga advancement** closes the loop, so a career accumulates reputation the way a saga accumulates verses. It's the quiet engine doing its best impression of a mead-hall boast. ## Editions A single 2026 supplement (released March 2026). *In the library.* ## References - [Loner: Norse Saga - DriveThruRPG](https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/554877/loner-norse-saga) - [Loner SRD - Norse Saga (free full text) - Zotiquest Games](https://lonersrd.zotiquestgames.com/geared_towards_loner/norse_saga.html) - [Loner SRD (free full text) - Zotiquest Games](https://lonersrd.zotiquestgames.com/) - [Loner - Official Website](https://loner.zotiquestgames.com/)
