# Loner: Galaxy Drifter tags: #game/rpg/loner-galaxy-drifter ![[Loner - Galaxy Drifter (cover).jpg|300]] **Loner: Galaxy Drifter** drops you into the far future with a lone wanderer and a galaxy worth of ancient ship routes, where nobody is quite sure where Earth is anymore and your whole career is the search for passage to the next world. It's the drifting-through-the-void dial on **[[Loner]]** — the same Chance-vs-Risk oracle and tag-based character, now pointed at a lone starfarer crossing a huge, mostly empty, occasionally hostile galaxy one favor, debt, and gamble at a time. ## Setting The Galaxy of Wanderers is a far-future setting where humanity scattered across countless worlds and then lost track of the homeworld itself. You play a drifter riding ancient ship routes between settled systems, forever chasing the next port. It's less about owning a grand starship and more about the grubby economics of staying alive out there: credits and commerce, gear and its limits, debts and favors, and the harm and consequences that pile up when the trip goes sideways. The whole thing is built on character traits and names suited to a wandering life, with travel across the galaxy as the connective tissue. ## Mechanics Same Loner engine — roll Chance against Risk for yes/no, watch for ties and the Twist Counter. Galaxy Drifter wraps it in the specifics of the vagabond life: a credits-and-commerce economy for paying your way, a debts-and-favors web to keep pulling you into other people's problems, gear with real limits, and a harm-and-consequences system so a bad landing isn't just a paragraph. Travel between worlds is the central loop, so a session can be as much about the hop and what you find on the way as about the destination.
