It's billed as "The Last Bright City in a Dead World": a sealed vertical metropolis where life is curated, monitored, and quietly timed out. Same tag-based chassis and Chance-vs-Risk oracle — the structure is all Loner, the setting is somebody else's nightmare. ## Setting The setting is the Concord Arcology, humanity's last bright city sealed against a dead outside world. Inside, life is administrated to the last detail: roles and expiry dates are normalized, residents are curated and monitored, and your place in the city is a thing that can be timed out — a quiet expiration rather than a dramatic end. The book sketches that city through its audit cycles: the first normalizes roles and expiry, an internal war breaks out over hidden levels during a blackout week, and the decades tick forward like the machinery is in charge. There's something genuinely unsettling about a dystopia that works precisely because it's polite. ## Mechanics The core is the shared Loner Oracle — roll a Chance die against a Risk die for yes/no, read ties as "Yes, but…," tick the Twist Counter. Concord Arcology bolts its own flavor onto that engine: playing a life that's been curated and counted, dealing with roles and expiries and the hidden floors that the management would rather you not find. Because the game states up front that the city is "monitored, and quietly timed out," a session carries the specific dread of a clock you can feel but not see, which is exactly the tone Loner's minimalism is good at sustaining. It's proof that the engine survives being handed to other hands. ## Editions A single 2025 independent release by Chris Harris / Dwarfmine Entertainment — not affiliated with Zotiquest Games. *In the library.* ## References - [Loner SRD (free full text) - Zotiquest Games](https://lonersrd.zotiquestgames.com/) - [Loner - Official Website](https://loner.zotiquestgames.com/) - [Loner (CC BY-SA 4.0) - Creative Commons License](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/)
