The solo-roleplaying hobby loves a niche tool, and **Keep Talking!** is another one for the pile: a free, system-agnostic dialogue and social-interaction add-on by Dr. Gerald Ravenpie, the oh-so-imaginatively-named evolution of his earlier **Let's Talk!** and **Keeping Contact!** tools. It exists to do the one thing solo play is worst at — talking to NPCs — and it does it by imitating the dialogue trees of video games, where you pick a vaguely-described option and the game tells you how the NPC reacted. Because nothing says "immersive vampire politics" like being caught between three poorly-labeled dialogue choices and a rock.
The core is a **1d10** roll plus five printable **Approach cards** and a stack of tables. Every NPC gets four social traits — **Role** (Stranger, Acquaintance, Bond, Sweetheart, Enemy, Rival, Higher-up, Underling, Relative, Sibling, Pet), **Attitude** (Very Bad to Very Good), **Mood**, and **Memories** — which gate what you can do with them. A dialogue is one of four **types** (Heated argument, Polite conversation, Friendly talk, or Intimate moment, the latter reserved for a Sweetheart) with a chosen **Goal** (Win the argument, Deal?, Get away with it, Forge bond, Start romance, etc.).
Resolution runs across three **exchanges**: each of the first two you draw two Approach cards, pick one, and roll 1d10 modified by the NPC's Mood, Memories, and your favored/disfavored approaches, then cross-reference the result against a reaction table (levels I–V). The third exchange you draw a single card and are stuck with it, and the roll decides both the reaction and the Goal's outcome — 9+ gets you what you want, 5–8 gets you a partial or costly win, 4– gets you nothing (or worse). Favors run on **Debt/Deal/Help** checks, so asking for help always comes with strings attached. There's also a Quick Dialogue option for when you can't be bothered, and a built-in Yes/No Oracle for everything else.
It's free, CC BY-SA 4.0, and still on version 0.01b — which is to say it's a hobby tool that's already fixed its own errata, bless its heart.
