Napoleonic warfare, but the infantry have tusks and the cavalry ride toads. **Flintloques & Muskets Redux** is Bob Minadeo's supplement grafting Two Hour Wargames' **95th** Napoleonic skirmish rules onto Alternative Armies' **Flintloque** setting — the black-powder fantasy world of **Valon**, where the usual fantasy suspects (orcs, elves, dwarves) share the field with the less usual (dogmen, bipedal toads, rabbits). It's the historical-fantasy version of the muskets-and-morale skirmish, and it knows the black-powder fiction is better for having a troll in the ranks.
## Setting
This is **Valon**, the Flintloque world — a fantasy land in a Napoleonic groove, populated by all the standard fantasy races and a few that aren't, all dressed for 19th-century black-powder warfare. The book is expressly a supplement for THW's **95th** ("a game of rollicking skirmishes in the historical fiction vein"), and its whole pitch is that the same rollicking skirmish is even more enjoyable when the fiction is fantasy: line infantry with bayonets and shot, cavalry squadrons, artillery, all of it wearing ears and fangs. The source material is Alternative Armies' Flintloque miniatures line and background, so the figures and the world come from there; the rules run on 95th.
## Mechanics
Mechanically it's the **95th** Napoleonic skirmish engine underneath — a THW reaction-system game about men (and not-quite-men) taking the field, rolling nerve, and breaking or holding when the volley comes down — pointed at the armies of Valon. As a *redux* supplement, it updates the Flintloques-and-muskets crossover for 95th and supplies the fantasy force lists and background to field the armies of the world. Being a supplement, it's not a self-contained ruleset: you'll want the **95th** rules (and the Flintloque setting, or the figures at least) to put it on the table. *The library holds this supplement but not the 95th rules or the Flintloque core.*
