# Darkest Delves tags: #game/rpg/darkest-delves #game/rpg/ironsworn ![[Darkest Delves (cover).jpg|600]] **Darkest Delves** — subtitled *Torchlight for Ironsworn: Delve* — is Jade Ravens Games' 2023 supplement that finally makes the dark dangerous in **[[Ironsworn]]** and **[[Ironsworn - Delve|Ironsworn: Delve]]**. Inspired by *Darkest Dungeon* and *Torchbearer*, it adds torchlight-and-darkness rules that ratchet the game's difficulty up as the flame gutters down, on the grim theory that a dungeon worth crawling into ought to be able to kill the light. ## Torchlight Rules The core gimmick is that light level changes the size of your **challenge dice**. From **radiant** (d8/d8) through **bright** (d8/d10), **dim** (d10/d10), and **dark** (d10/d12) to **dismal** (d12/d12) — the darker it gets, the bigger the dice you roll against. Your action score is capped at your highest challenge die, so darkness quietly shaves your chances as well as your nerves. Light dims a level any time the challenge dice match on an action roll (or when the fiction demands), and torches run on **Supply**, so being caught short-handed is its own disaster. Two new moves run the show: **Light a Torch** and **Shed More Light**. The consequences climb steeply: in **pitch darkness** your options narrow, a rolled match forces an **Endure Stress** vs. crushing despair, and getting out alive (Escape the Depths, Reach Your Destination) is treated a full step harsher.
