# Temple of Hera

**Temple of Hera** is a **Spears & Glory** adventure for the original **[[Agon]]** from Lame Mage Productions — Ben Robbins's first-edition-era quest series, released free in 2008. It's a classic divine errand with a wonderfully absurd conceit: a mob of lascivious satyrs has seduced the sacred virgins charged with tending Hera's temple, and the would-be brides and their beastmen now idle their days away drinking, dancing, and debauching in the middle of the goddess's once-sacred shrine. The gods are not amused.
## Setting
The heroes, resting after deeds and wanderings, are welcomed with feasts in a humble village — until the face of sable-eyed Hera appears in the roaring bonfire, her gaze bitter with rage. A goddess does not find it charming that her temple stands defiled while the village dances; she singles out the heroes and commands them to slay the defilers and cleanse her shrine. But the satyrs' revelry carries a magical weight: the madness of their song sweeps over anyone who draws near, calling even heroes to yield to their wild nature and join the dance. The quest, in the series' classical style, has four objectives — learn about the defilers, learn to defeat the madness, obtain the horn, and slay the defilers.
## Mechanics
This is the original Agon, not the 2e rewrite, so it runs on **Strife** and the first edition's contest structure: each quest has objectives and a budget of Strife per hero (here 20), obstacle contests and recommended dice pools (e.g. resist the madness at *Spirit d10 d12, 5 Strife*), and 1e-style **creative abilities** — Lore, Orate, Spirit, Music, Insight — listed as the likely approaches per contest. It's advice-heavy ("each contest includes a recommended number of dice, but you can set this to whatever you want if you have enough Strife") and squarely built for a classical, hubris-and-smack-talk tone. A sidebar even flags the satyrs' madness as their stand-in for monster immunity — you can't fight them until you find a way past the song.
