**Agon: Storm Furies** is John Harper's sci-fi dial on the **[[Paragon]]** engine — a playset that swaps Greek heroes and mythic islands for stormcraft fighter pilots defending the last living vessel of humanity. Same contest machinery, but pointed at the void instead of the Aegean: you're a pilot aboard the storm carrier **TEMPEST**, the solar system has already been devastated by the **Forged**, and what's left of the species flies out of the storm it left behind.
## Setting
*"SUIT UP."* You are a stormcraft fighter pilot serving aboard the Storm Carrier **TEMPEST** — the last surviving vessel of humanity since the devastation of the solar system by the **Forged** and the creation of **the Storm** in its wake. Pilot creation runs the family's tag-and-dice loop with a military frame: pick a **Rank** and a **Role** in the squadron (Commando, Interceptor, Medical, Scout, Tactical, or Technician), a **Callsign** (the legendary ones get engraved on the bronze wall of honor in the ready room), a core Domain, two recent **Expressions** — drawn from Bravado, Courage, Devotion, Honor, Passion, or Wrath — and a **Style** (cropped hair and a cocky sneer, or cowboy hat, cigar, and finger guns). The highest-ranking pilot on a mission gets the final say on how the squadron handles its contests.
## Mechanics
The four mythic Domains become the four pillars of a pilot's competence: **Command** (squadron coordination, willpower, social), **Operations** (stealth, subterfuge, reconnaissance), **Tactical** (stormcraft engagements, firefights, close combat), and **Systems** (education, science, technology). Expressions stand in for the god-strength resource — the pilot's recent emotional fuel — while the rest is the shared **[[Paragon]]** contest loop: die-rated traits, an opponent pool assembled by whoever's running the mission, one-roll contests, and the whole dogfight resolved in a single roll. It's Agon with the togas removed and the canopy glass on.
